Chapter One: Alas in Jerusalem
DAY ONE
The Hasbara Fellows arrived in good spirits Monday evening. It was a long flight from JFK but the high energy carried through amidst the jetlag. The students checked into their accomatations, the men at the Prima Kings Hotel and the women at the Jerusalem Gold.
After getting settled into their rooms the group took to the streets of ben Yahuda to take in the lights and sounds of Jerusalem's nightlife. Sleep tight Hasbara Fellows, a long day awaits you in the morning.
DAY TWO
The day began with a gourmet breakfast at their respective hotels. Eggs, pancakes, french toast, cheeses and salads provided the protein needed to start everyone's day.
The first session of the day was "The History of the Land of Israel" with Rabbi and historian Ken Spiro. He outlined all of early Jewish history from both a biblical and historical perspective. His incredible annecdotes and witty sense of humour kept the students until the last sentence.
Up next we had managing director of Hasbara Fellowships Natalie Menaged who taught a class called "Communiating for Israel". This lecture provides a framework for how to advocate for Israel. After lunch the students continued with the days of theme of historical Israel and took a walking tour through the City of David.
If you thought this day has been packed enough, we capped it off with a big Channukah party in the Old City. Latkes and jelly donuts, singing and dancing, and lighting the candles were just the start of this party.
It's been a great start to the program and we plan on throwing it in high gear as we spend the next 2 days touring around the northern part of Israel. We should have plenty of great pictures to post soon.

Hasbara Fellows; We Are Waiting
Over the course of the next 3 weeks, 90 students will be embarking on a journey that will change the way they see Israel and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
We will be travelling to see different parts of the security barrier, to overlook on the borders and visit strategic sites in Israel's survival.
We will be hearing form top policy makers, politicians, journalists. People from the right and from the left, religious and secular, Arab and Israeli.
We will be learning the A to Z on how to be activists on campus. Learning how to run a program/event, use campus media, build coalitions, table on campus etc.
This blog will capture more than just our schedule. It will try to really put you in the shoes of the students, we want to bring all of the readers as close to the action as possible. In an effort to make this as interactive as possible, we encourage you to post your questions and comments and we will be sure to respond.
So check in everyday, read the story, see the pictures and immerse yourself in Hasbara Fellowships.
